A single pane of glass with Security Copilot, Intune & Surface

Surface has always strived to empower people to be more productive and our new Copilot+ PCs are testament to that mission. But productivity isn’t just about hardware and end users — software and IT play a crucial role too.

Last month, we announced that Security Copilot is coming to the Surface Management Portal. Today, we’re excited to share that it’s now available in Public Preview for organizations that have enabled Security Copilot in their tenant. Security Copilot is an AI cybersecurity product that enables security professionals to respond to cyberthreats quickly, process signals at machine speed and assess risk exposure in minutes.

Its integration in the Surface Management Portal helps IT teams work smarter, streamline workflows, and ultimately save time.

Efficient IT workflows

The Surface Management Portal centralizes Surface device management within Intune, giving IT teams a single pane of glass to manage devices at scale throughout their lifecycle. Copilot enhances this experience by assisting with troubleshooting, summarizing warranty status and providing best practices to maximize device performance.

Copilot integrates Surface documentation with your tenant data to deliver contextually relevant insights. For example, it can compare official Surface driver and firmware lifecycle documentation against the lifecycle data of devices in your tenant. In a single click, Copilot generates a table highlighting which devices are nearing the end of servicing, enabling IT to plan proactively. Previously, this process required manually reconciling data from multiple sources — an ongoing and time-consuming task.

Additionally, Copilot makes it easier for IT pros who are new to their roles to get started with Surface device management. Instead of reviewing different resources, they can rely on Copilot to highlight key information and guide them through tasks, helping them be productive from day one.

Getting started

To use Security Copilot in the Surface Management Portal, you need a Microsoft Intune license and available Security Compute Units (SCU) for Security Copilot.

To get started:

  • Work with your billing admin to add capacity (Security Compute Units) for Microsoft Security Copilot in the same tenant as your Surface Management Portal
  • Work with your Security admin to enable the Surface Management Portal plugin in Microsoft Security Copilot
  • Once completed, you’ll see Copilot prompts appear on the Overview screen of the Surface Management Portal.

It’s just the beginning

After months of private preview, we’re incredibly excited to bring this preview to a broader audience. Your feedback is invaluable in shaping the future of Security Copilot in the Surface Management Portal. Use the feedback button to share your thoughts and help us refine the experience so it can evolve in ways that are important to you.

We can’t wait to hear what you think!
