How do other industries use SharePoint as a capability directory?
I’m currently exploring how SharePoint can be leveraged as a capability directory across different industries. In my organization, we’re considering using it to help staff identify which teams or departments are responsible for specific services, especially when a case needs to be referred internally (e.g., from contact center to branch or escalation teams).
I’d love to hear from others:
- How is your company using SharePoint as a capability or service directory?
- Are there any templates or design best practices you would recommend?
- Have you faced any challenges in adoption or maintenance?
Any insights or screenshots (with sensitive info removed, of course!) would be really appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
cheers

We only use SharePoint as the backend data source. The front end is an app in Power Apps which a) prevents users changing the data, b) allows them to filter the data on a combination of filter inputs, checkboxes and dropdowns, c) allows them to export the results to excel, d) complete & submit a form if they think anything is missing which triggers a flow in Power Automate to send the form content to a shared mailbox, and e) links to a page with more information on the intranet.
